In a recent development, four individuals from Bangladesh were apprehended and deported by Assam Police, reinforcing the state's commitment to curbing illegal infiltration. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted this successful operation on X, commending the police force for their vigilance.
Despite the Chief Minister not specifying the exact location of their capture or the border district used for deportation, it was clear the operation aligned with Assam's broader strategy. Since the past year, the Border Security Force has heightened surveillance across the 1,885-kilometer India-Bangladesh border due to regional disruptions.
The Assam government's goal remains an 'infiltration-free' state, a mission underscored by the interception of 305 illegal entrants in seven months, reflective of the ongoing collaborative efforts between Assam Police and BSF to secure the border.
