Attack on Jaffar Express: Baloch Liberation Army Strikes Again

A separatist militant attack hit a passenger train, Jaffar Express, in Pakistan's Balochistan province, injuring a train driver. The Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility, citing demands for regional independence. The incident underscores a long-standing insurgency in the region, known for its rich gas and mineral resources.

The Jaffar Express, a train carrying around 400 passengers, came under attack on Tuesday as it traveled from Quetta to Peshawar. Separatist militants fired on the train, injuring its driver, railway and police officials reported.

The Baloch Liberation Army, a separatist group, claimed responsibility for the attack and also alleged taking hostages. However, officials have not confirmed any hostages.

The attack occurred in Balochistan's Bolan district. The provincial government has declared emergency measures to manage the situation, as the region experiences long-standing insurgency issues over local resource exploitation.
