Dalit Groom Attacked: Caste Discrimination at Wedding

In a shocking incident that has reignited conversations about caste-based discrimination, a Dalit man's wedding procession turned violent in Azizpur village. According to Police, guests were verbally abused, and images of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar were vandalized on March 6.

Mukesh Kumar, the groom's father, reported that Vishnu Sharma and accomplices even attacked the groom, hitting him with a gun butt. Castigating them with racial slurs, the perpetrators pocketed away despite the ruckus.

Authorities confirmed receiving the complaint belatedly by March 10, and a case was registered under multiple legal provisions, including the SC/ST Act. Mukesh claims he reported earlier on March 7, putting the spotlight back on potential procedural delays.
