Crisis on the Tracks: Hostage Situation Unfolds in Pakistan
Separatist militants in Pakistan attacked a train, taking 35 hostages. The Baloch Liberation Army claims the attack, threatening hostages' lives if demands are unmet. With mounting casualties and ongoing military operations, the volatile situation has drawn national attention, with government pledging tough responses to restore order.
A dramatic hostage crisis unfolded in southwestern Pakistan as separatist militants took 35 passengers hostage aboard a train. The Baloch Liberation Army swiftly claimed responsibility, asserting control by blowing up the train track and capturing hostages, demanding the release of Baloch prisoners within 48 hours.
Local authorities reported that while around 350 passengers were safe, the train driver lost his life. A major security operation is underway, with helicopters and special forces deployed to the rugged area where militants and military exchanged heavy fire.
Despite the group's threat to kill hostages if demands go unmet, Pakistan’s government, condemned by the attack, refuses to capitulate, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and interior minister Mohsin Naqvi vowing not to negotiate with the assailants.
