In an important development, Jharkhand plans to conduct a caste-based survey in the upcoming financial year, according to Transport Minister Deepak Birua's announcement in the state Assembly.

The Personnel department, assigned as the nodal agency for the survey, has commenced preparatory actions, including issuing a notice to hire a suitable agency.

Simultaneously, the state faces challenges in scheduling municipal elections, linked to completing a 'triple test' survey ensuring Other Backward Classes receive appropriate representation, a priority accentuated by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sudivya Kumar.
