Delhi's Transformative Rs 1 Lakh Crore Budget Unveiled

On Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled a historic Rs 1 lakh crore budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, emphasizing development across electricity, roads, water, and connectivity. Highlighting a shift from past inefficiencies, Gupta announced the doubling of capital expenditure to Rs 28,000 crore.
One of the key highlights is the rejuvenation of the Yamuna River, with Rs 500 crore allocated for its cleaning, inspired by the Sabarmati riverfront project. The budget also stresses clean drinking water, health services, and enhanced transport links, showcasing a 31.5% increase over the previous year.
Aimed at promoting investment, innovation, and socio-economic welfare, the budget includes initiatives for women's safety, education reform, and industrial growth. Key measures include Rs 5,100 crore for women's welfare, 50,000 CCTV cameras, and a Global Investment Summit every two years.
