A woman accountant in Thane, Maharashtra, is under investigation for allegedly misappropriating Rs 17.65 lakh from a hospital's funds, police confirmed on Tuesday.
The accused allegedly used payments from patients, including operation charges, for her personal gain during her employment at the hospital in Kalyan's Syndicate area last year.
The case came to attention following an internal hospital audit. Authorities have charged her with criminal breach of trust and cheating under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with a probe currently underway.
