The CBI has apprehended two Public Works Department employees in Poonch district for corruption charges, confirmed an official on Wednesday.
An assistant accounts officer and a junior assistant at the executive engineer's office in PWD Surankote were allegedly caught demanding bribes of Rs 30,000 and Rs 8,000 to process a General Provident Fund amounting to over Rs 5 lakh.
After negotiations, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs 20,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. On Tuesday, a CBI operation successfully caught the accused red-handed as they accepted the bribe.
