Delhi Empowers Local Officers to Curb Noise Pollution

In a landmark move, Delhi's Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced that Municipal Corporation officers and others are now empowered to take direct action against noise pollution violators. This new order extends authority beyond the Delhi Police and DPCC, promising quicker resolutions and real on-ground implementation.

In a landmark step to combat noise pollution in Delhi, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa declared that for the first time, Municipal Corporation officers and key departments are now authorized to take direct actions against noise polluters.

Previously, only the Revenue Department, Delhi Police, and Delhi Pollution Control Committee could handle these issues, resulting in delays. The new directive broadens the list of empowered officers to include Assistant Commissioners from MCD and local bodies, Deputy Commissioners (Revenue), Sub-Divisional Magistrates, and senior environmental experts from DPCC.

This initiative is aimed at decentralizing enforcement, ensuring faster and more localized responses to public grievances. Sirsa affirmed the government's commitment to enforcing noise pollution control effectively, stating that this empowerment marks a shift from policy to practical on-ground measures, signed off by all major stakeholders for immediate action.
