In a significant breakthrough, Delhi Police have arrested Abhishek Oberai, age 37, the alleged mastermind behind a fraud scheme that has duped small-scale incense stick manufacturers across India. The arrest took place in the outer north area of Delhi, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

Oberai, who has studied only up to Class 1 and comes from a financially struggling background, created fraudulent supplier profiles on social media, particularly Facebook, to lure his victims. He promised to supply essential raw materials like bamboo sticks, police reported.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nidhin Valsan, the accused collected advance payments through digital platforms, then disappeared, leaving manufacturers in the lurch. The police recovered multiple mobile phones, SIM cards, and bank documents during a raid at his residence. Investigations are ongoing to uncover more victims and accomplices.
