Major Hydroponic Weed Bust at Mumbai Airport: Rs 24.66 Crore Seized

Customs officials at Mumbai international airport seized hydroponic weed worth Rs 24.66 crore, arresting three individuals involved, including a receiver waiting outside. The drugs were concealed in vacuum-sealed packages brought from Thailand. Subsequent investigations linked the case to an international drug syndicate.

In a significant drug bust, Mumbai Customs officials at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport intercepted hydroponic weed smuggled from Thailand worth Rs 24.66 crore. According to authorities, three individuals have been arrested, including two passengers and a man waiting outside the airport to receive the drugs.

Upon arrival from Bangkok, the two passengers were apprehended by Customs officials who acted on specific intelligence. Searches revealed 24.96 kgs of hydroponic weed hidden in vacuum-sealed packages within their luggage, an official confirmed.

Further interrogation of the arrested duo led to the capture of a third suspect, who was poised to collect the illicit consignment. Investigations have hinted at the operation being part of a larger international drug syndicate, and all three individuals are currently booked under the NDPS Act.
