New Leadership in Ukraine's Land Forces Amid Military Reshuffle

Shapovalov takes over the role following the resignation of Mykhailo Drapatyi, a move prompted by a deadly Russian attack on a training camp in southeastern Ukraine.

Shapovalov brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously served as a liaison at NATO's coordination center in Germany. His military background also includes commanding roles within Ukraine, most recently as the leader of the forces in the Operational Command 'south.'

This reshuffle is part of a larger strategic overhaul. Drapatyi has been reassigned as the commander of joint forces, a critical position in managing Ukraine's ongoing coordination and defense efforts.
