Mistaken Identity: Journalist Wrongly Accused by Delhi Police

In a mistaken identity case, Delhi Police wrongly apprehended a Noida-based journalist, Rahul Shah, mistaking him for a suspect. The incident was filmed and went viral online. Despite showing identification, Shah was allegedly mishandled. The police apologized for the confusion, attributing it to similarities in name and appearance.

In an unusual case of identity mix-up, Delhi Police mistakenly identified a journalist from Noida as a suspect in a criminal investigation. Videos of this incident quickly spread across social media, showing the journalist and police in a heated exchange.

Following the altercation, the police team involved issued an apology. According to a statement by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam, the team was tracking a suspect named Rahul from Bahadurgarh, based on mobile signals, which mistakenly led them to Rahul Shah, who was at a petrol pump in Noida.

Despite Shah presenting identification, an argument ensued. He claimed to have shown multiple identification documents, yet the police persisted in their approach. Upon recognizing their error, the police issued an apology, noting no force was used, and declined to pursue further action. The journalist's wife documented the event, highlighting a concerning police mishandling.
