A teacher from a government school in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district has been arrested following serious allegations of sexual harassment made by 24 girl students, according to police reports on Monday.
The arrest was made after the students from classes VIII to X lodged complaints with the school principal, who subsequently notified the police authorities. The students alleged inappropriate touching by the teacher in a written complaint.
School officials held a meeting with the parents on Saturday, uncovering that most were unaware of the alleged harassment. The teacher was arrested and currently faces charges under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and provisions of the POCSO Act.
