An 18-year-old male suspect has been apprehended after allegedly raping his 4-year-old cousin in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, according to authorities.

The incident reportedly occurred on Monday in a village under the jurisdiction of the Uchehra police station, authorities confirmed. The accused reportedly offered the child jamun fruit as a lure before taking her to a secluded area near railway tracks where the alleged crime took place, stated Uchehra police station in-charge Satish Mishra.

The young victim was discovered by local women returning from nearby fields who heard her cries. They rushed her home and notified her family. Swift action by the Uchehra police led to the arrest of the accused. The child has been admitted to the district hospital and is in stable condition, officials report. A case has been registered against the accused, they added.
