An administrative officer in Rajasthan's Didwana-Kuchaman district attempted self-immolation due to work-related stress, police have reported. The incident has raised grave concerns about workplace pressures facing government employees.

Ramavtar Sharma, aged 58, set himself on fire within the premises of Government Higher Secondary School in Makrana on Monday. Quick action by a female sweeper who witnessed the event and shouted for help led to his rescue by locals and school staff. They swiftly transported him to a government hospital.

Hospital sources state Sharma's injuries were severe, necessitating advanced treatment at Ajmer's Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital. Police suggest severe pressure to update departmental records and meet administrative targets might have driven him to this desperate act. An inquiry is underway.
