Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Tuesday the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the alleged sexual harassment of a minor girl at a coaching class in Beed, Maharashtra. The SIT, which will be led by a senior female officer, aims to ensure a thorough and timely investigation into the matter.

The issue was raised in the Maharashtra state assembly by NCP legislator Chetan Tupe, who questioned the minimal remand of only three days for the two arrested suspects and demanded accountability on who might be protecting the accused.

Fadnavis assured that the investigation would not spare those protecting the accused. The two teachers are accused of forcing the 17-year-old student into obscene acts over several months, an allegation that shocked the community and led to calls for swift justice.
