Crime of Passion: Woman Arrested for Husband's Murder

In a shocking development from Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district, police have arrested a 29-year-old woman accused of murdering her husband over an alleged extramarital affair. The incident has left the local community in disbelief, shedding light on domestic issues that can escalate to violence.

The accused, Puja Kumari, reportedly killed her husband, Rajesh Kumar Mahtha, by striking him with a hammer while he was asleep on the night of July 15/16. The crime came to light after the police recovered the body and launched an investigation. Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat confirmed the arrest.

During a press conference, Lunayat stated that Puja fled the scene with her children after committing the crime. The police, using both human and technical evidence, apprehended her soon after. During interrogation, Puja confessed, citing her husband's affair as the motive. Evidence from the scene included a bloodied hammer and stained smartphones.
