Tragedy Strikes: Lightning Fatalities in West Bengal

Tragedy struck in West Bengal on Thursday when lightning strikes claimed the lives of at least 13 individuals across the Bankura and Purba Bardhaman districts, as confirmed by local officials.
In Bankura, eight people lost their lives in various locations during severe thunderstorms. Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Tiwari reported deaths in Onda, Kotulpur, Joypur, Patrasayer, and Indas, with the victims including Narayan Sar, Jaba Bauri, Tiloka Mal, and others yet unidentified.
Meanwhile, five fatalities were reported in Purba Bardhaman, along with four injuries. Victims from different areas, including Madhabdihi and Mangalkot, were identified, and those injured are receiving medical care. The incidents underscore the severity of lightning as a natural hazard in the region.
