In a resolute move against drug trafficking, Thane police have seized 2.184 kg of mephedrone, valued at Rs 3.97 crore, and apprehended two individuals in separate operations. A food delivery agent and a mason, suspected to be part of a drug network, have been arrested by the authorities.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amarsingh Jadhav reported the arrests and drugs haul as part of the city's ongoing battle against narcotics. The operations signify a concerted effort to break the chain from minor couriers to major suppliers.
The Anti-Narcotics Squad and Crime Branch Unit-1 led the operations, targeting drug exchanges in Raigad and Thane districts. The suspects have been remanded to police custody as investigations continue to trace the drug network's origins.
