The city of Delhi has witnessed a significant 68% reduction in the issuance of challans to underage drivers, with police issuing 92 challans between January and July this year, compared to 287 last year, according to official data.

The decline is largely attributed to intensified monitoring efforts and awareness programs conducted in schools. A senior police officer emphasized the importance of educating children and parents on the legal repercussions for guardians if minors are involved in driving offences.

Data reveals that in 2025, the south district recorded the highest instances of underage driving, while New Delhi recorded the least.
