Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh, having served for over 35 years in pivotal military roles, officially became the Vice Chief of the Army Staff on Friday.

The general, commissioned in December 1987 into the 4th Battalion of the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), boasts a storied career, having commanded operations in Kashmir and along the Line of Control.

Recognized for his leadership in 'Operation Pawan' and other key missions, Singh succeeds Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani, with the Army extending heartfelt appreciation for Subramani's 39-year service.
