Delhi Police has conducted a successful crackdown on the illegal supply of Chinese manjha, the banned kite thread, just ahead of the nation's Independence Day. According to an official announcement on Saturday, three men were apprehended and a total of 68 rolls of the prohibited product were seized in two separate operations targeting the New Seelampur and Sangam Vihar areas of the capital.

Official reports confirm that the New Seelampur raid resulted in the arrest of Ashu (22) and Imran, while a subsequent operation in Street Number 5, Wazirabad, led to the capture of Mohammad Saaqib (35) along with a seizure of 50 rolls of manjha. The raids were initiated following a tip-off about the illegal trade of the material, which has been banned by Delhi authorities under directives dating back to 2017 and 2020.

This decisive police action not only highlights ongoing enforcement efforts but also raises questions about the potential for a wider distribution network being in operation. Investigations are now concentrated on tracing the origins of the confiscated manjha and the potential involvement of the three men in a broader network.
