Chief Priest Arrested: Allegations of Rape in Odisha Ashram

In a shocking development, the head priest of Mathakargola Ashram in Odisha's Dhenkanal district has been arrested for the alleged rape of a 35-year-old woman inmate. The incident reportedly took place on August 4 while the victim was sleeping in a room within the ashram premises.

The woman lodged an FIR, alleging that the 47-year-old chief priest raped her and later abused her when she protested against his advances. Acting on the complaint, the Odisha Police immediately arrested the accused, who has since been remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.

Suryamani Pradhan, the additional SP of Dhenkanal district, confirmed the arrest and mentioned that the accused has pleaded innocence, claiming to be framed. The authorities have assured a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind these serious allegations.
