Call for Gender Inclusion in RSS Leadership Sparks Dialogue

Kalli Purie, vice-chairperson of the India Today Group, has urged for greater female representation in the leadership of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). This call to action came at the launch of 'Tan Samarpit, Man Samarpit,' a biography showcasing swayamsevak Ramesh Prakash, and saw Purie speaking in the presence of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

During her speech, Purie highlighted her experiences with the RSS, noting its discipline and meticulous long-term planning. She also stressed that corruption should not become a societal norm. Purie introduced India's 'Gross Domestic Behaviour' initiative, focusing on civic discipline, inclusivity, and gender issues.

Responding to Purie's remarks, Mohan Bhagwat underscored the necessity for societal change to begin with individual swayamsevaks. He highlighted the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, a parallel women's organization, and noted women's active participation in decision-making processes. Bhagwat emphasized that engaging women in leadership is vital for social balance, asserting that family duties and national service complement each other.
