A significant narcotics bust in Hyderabad led to the arrest of a 19-year-old student from Bengaluru and a 27-year-old private firm employee. The duo was apprehended by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) following a tip-off and were found with narcotics worth Rs 7.3 lakh, authorities revealed on Monday.

The operation was executed on August 19 within the Domalguda Police Station limits, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force), Y V S Sudheendra. The suspects were caught with 12.57 grams of MDMA, 305 grams of ganja, a vehicle, and three mobile phones.

Investigators disclosed that the student, who is a BCA major with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, was responsible for sourcing narcotics from Nigerian suppliers. These were then distributed to the 27-year-old accomplice, whom the student had connected with on social media. Consequently, the substances were sold in Hyderabad, and charges have been filed under the NDPS Act.
