Collaborative Efforts Urged to Combat SC Crime

Kishor Makwana, chairperson of the NCSC, emphasized social cooperation to reduce crime against Scheduled Castes. Kishor Makwana, the chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, highlighted the importance of social cooperation in minimizing crime against SCs during a state-level review meeting in Rajasthan.

Emphasizing the role of institutions and influential individuals, Makwana noted that their support is vital for fostering social harmony and curbing criminal activities. Discussions centered on measures under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The commission, joined by Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham, who stated that SC crime has declined in the state, also included a review of cases by DIG Sanmeet Kaur. Efforts to raise awareness and curb social injustices, such as the prohibition of Dalits on horseback at weddings, were discussed.
