Crackdown on Illicit Drug Empire in Doda

A double-storey house belonging to alleged drug peddler Shakeela Begum, located in Doda district, was seized under the NDPS Act. The house, believed to be bought with drug money, was attached to target drug trafficking networks. Police urge public cooperation to combat drug trade.

In a significant law enforcement action, authorities in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, have seized a double-storey house linked to alleged drug peddler Shakeela Begum. The seizure was made under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, as announced by local police on Monday.

The property, located in Sadeeqabad, was believed to have been purchased with proceeds from illegal drug sales. Currently, Shakeela Begum, also known as Taya, is incarcerated in Bhaderwah jail and faces four separate FIRs concerning her alleged involvement in the drug trade, police reported.

Doda Senior Superintendent of Police, Sandeep Mehta, emphasized the police's commitment to eradicating drug-related activities in the district. He called on the community, especially young people, to avoid drug use and support police efforts by sharing information about drug peddlers, reassuring that informant identities will remain confidential.
