The Allahabad High Court has issued a stay order on the arrest of Ajay Yadav, National Vice-President of the Samajwadi Chatra Sabha, in a case of alleged extortion.
An FIR was registered at the Colonelganj Police Station, implicating Yadav, a prominent leader of the Samajwadi Party's student wing, on extortion charges.
The bench, including Justices Rajiv Gupta and Rajiv Lochan Shukla, ordered the arrest stay of petitioner Ajay Yadav, also known as Ajay Samrat, and instructed the state counsel to submit an affidavit regarding the case. Yadav contends that accusations he made about financial misconduct during the Kumbh Mela led to the FIR being filed against him.
