The Congress-led opposition exited the Kerala assembly in protest after being denied movement of an adjournment motion to discuss the missing 4 kg of gold from Sabarimala. Speaker A N Shamseer pointed to procedural rules citing sub-judice matters as the reason for denial.

Leader of the Opposition, V D Satheesan, expressed that historical discussions on sub-judice topics existed, but the Speaker maintained that rules trump precedence. Satheesan emphasized the issue's gravity as the High Court mandated a probe.

Allegations from ruling party ministers suggested the motion aimed to disrupt the Global Ayyappa Sangamam. Recent court findings highlighted unexplained weight reduction in the gold-cladded plates of Sabarimala's guardian deity idols, prompting further investigations.
