Defamation Clash in Bihar: Minister vs. Poll Strategist

Bihar's political scene has heated up as Minister Ashok Choudhary slapped a legal notice on Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraaj Party, over alleged defamatory statements. The notice demands an 'unconditional apology' or a civil suit of Rs 100 crore.

At the heart of this controversy, Kishor alleged in a press briefing that Choudhary was implicated in an irregular land transaction valued at Rs 200 crore. Choudhary, who oversees the Rural Works department, is also a key figure in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JD(U) party.

The minister's lawyer, Kumar Anjaneya Shanu, in the notice, instructed Kishor to either substantiate his allegations or issue a formal apology. The notice warns of potential legal action, claiming Kishor's statements have irreparably damaged Choudhary's reputation.
