MCOCA Charges Applied Against Latur's Notorious Gangster

Latur police have invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act against notorious gangster Shakti alias Yogesh Ashok Gurane and his gang. They are accused of assaulting Avinash Boyane for refusing extortion demands. This gang is linked to multiple serious crimes, including armed robberies and extortion, in Latur.

Latur police have escalated their measures against crime by invoking the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against a known gangster, Shakti alias Yogesh Ashok Gurane, and three of his accomplices. This decisive step comes in connection to an assault incident in a bar on June 4, officials reported on Friday.

Gurane, along with ten of his associates, allegedly attacked Avinash Boyane using iron rods at a bar in Chandeshwar. The assault followed Boyane's refusal to meet the gang's demands for protection money, according to police statements.

Gurane and his associates have been implicated in at least eleven serious offenses across Latur, involving armed robberies, extortion, and violent attacks. The application of MCOCA provisions was sanctioned after thorough oversight from Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe and the Nanded range inspector general, reinforcing a stern law enforcement stance against organized crime.
