The Delhi Police has successfully apprehended Deepak Kumar, a convicted murderer who had been on the run after absconding from parole, in east Delhi's Anand Vihar. Officials announced the arrest on Sunday.

Authorities received a tip-off about Kumar's whereabouts and coordinated a tactical operation to capture him at the Anand Vihar Bus Terminal on September 30. During the arrest, police seized a pistol and six live cartridges from the 36-year-old, who resides in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh.

Kumar, a habitual offender, was initially convicted for a murder committed in Rohtak in 2008 and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment. Since jumping parole in 2023, Kumar remained elusive, adding to his criminal dossier. His history includes involvement in four murder cases, two robberies, and various violations under the Arms Act and vehicle theft across three states: Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
