Cuttack city in Odisha experienced a tense 12-hour bandh amid prohibitory orders imposed after violent incidents during the Durga Puja immersion processions. Tensions flared in the early hours as clashes erupted between locals and police, exacerbated by loud music and culminating in stone and bottle throwing.

Authorities responded promptly, deploying internet suspension for 24 hours and enforcing prohibitory orders in 13 of the city's 20 police station areas. Clashes resulted in injuries to six individuals, including Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, and further violence ensued following a VHP motorcycle rally promoting the bandh.

Despite the mixed public response, law enforcement maintained peace throughout the day with a visible presence of over 1,800 state police along with 800 CAPF and Swift Action Force personnel. Restrictions were also placed on city entry, with patrols ensuring the prevention of further disruption.
