The Goa police have clarified that social activist Rama Kankonkar, who suffered a brutal assault last month, has not implicated any politicians in his statement. The attack, involving seven individuals, occurred on September 18 near Panaji.
Superintendent of Police (North) Rahul Gupta informed reporters that Kankonkar's statement was recorded last week at Goa Medical College and Hospital. During this, he identified one assailant named Minguel and provided descriptions of two other attackers.
Despite speculations by social activists about a political angle, Kankonkar has not confirmed such claims. The investigation remains active, with his testimony serving as critical evidence to support the police case against the accused, who are now held at Colvale Central Jail.
