In a landmark development, Thailand and Cambodia have made significant strides towards a peace agreement, according to Thai Defense Minister Natthaphon Narkphanit. The proposed ceasefire is on the agenda for Sunday, potentially in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump at the ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur.

The discussions aim to resolve issues arising from a deadly July conflict that resulted in 48 fatalities and displaced hundreds of thousands. Consensus has been reached on pivotal areas, including the withdrawal of heavy weaponry and coordinated anti-cyber scam efforts.

Additional agreements were reached on joint border surveys and the construction of border fences in non-disputed territories. Cambodia's Defense Minister Tea Seiha emphasized the agreements' role in rebuilding trust and normalcy, as well as facilitating the release of detained Cambodian soldiers.
