In the early hours of Thursday, a dramatic shootout unfolded in Rohini, Delhi, resulting in the deaths of four notorious criminals linked to the Sigma Gang. This coordinated operation was a joint effort between Delhi Police and Bihar Police, aimed at terminating the gang's wave of extortion-cum-murder across Bihar.

Identified as Ranjan Pathak, Bimlesh Mahto, Manish Pathak, and Aman Thakur, all hailing from Sitamarhi district, the gang members were intercepted by authorities. Ranjan Pathak was notorious for his role as the kingpin, carrying a bounty of Rs 50,000 and being involved in eight criminal cases, including recent extortion demands coinciding with the Bihar election season.

The intense encounter saw around 45 to 50 rounds fired between the criminals and police forces. The gang was cornered after detailed tracking by Delhi Police, who collaborated with Bihar Police, leading to the gang's neutralization ahead of the crucial Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for November.
