In a significant crackdown, the Odisha Police's Crime Branch has apprehended a 29-year-old man from West Bengal on charges of orchestrating a massive fraud scheme via an online gaming platform.
The accused, Sugata Majumder, a resident of Nadia district, is alleged to have duped investors of a staggering Rs 1.08 crore under the pretense of offering higher returns.
The arrest occurred following a complaint from an investor who attempted to withdraw his investments after incurring initial losses, only to be met with demands for additional funds. The investigation is ongoing, police confirmed.
