Online Gaming Platform Scammer Arrested for Fraud

A 29-year-old man named Sugata Majumder from West Bengal was arrested by Odisha Police for allegedly defrauding people of Rs 1.08 crore on an online gaming platform, promising high returns on investments. The investigation follows a complaint from an investor who tried to withdraw funds after losses.

In a significant crackdown, the Odisha Police's Crime Branch has apprehended a 29-year-old man from West Bengal on charges of orchestrating a massive fraud scheme via an online gaming platform.

The accused, Sugata Majumder, a resident of Nadia district, is alleged to have duped investors of a staggering Rs 1.08 crore under the pretense of offering higher returns.

The arrest occurred following a complaint from an investor who attempted to withdraw his investments after incurring initial losses, only to be met with demands for additional funds. The investigation is ongoing, police confirmed.
