The family of a woman doctor who allegedly died by suicide in Maharashtra's Satara district last week has demanded a government-initiated Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case.
During a press conference, they insisted on a fast-track trial to be conducted in Beed, publicly expressing their distrust in Phaltan, the town where the tragic incident occurred.
Relatives also raised concerns over the timing of the surrender of police sub-inspector Gopal Badane, suspecting evidence tampering. The deceased doctor accused Badane of rape and Prashant Bankar, a software engineer, of harassment in a suicide note before the arrests were made.
