In a significant operation, Punjab Police claim to have dismantled a cross-border drug cartel following the arrest of an operative and the seizure of five kilograms of heroin in Ferozepur on Tuesday.
Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, identified the arrested individual as Gurpreet Singh, commonly known as Gora, hailing from Habib Wala village in Ferozepur. His motorcycle was also confiscated during the operation. Initial investigations have suggested that the consignment was smuggled from across the border.
Assistant Inspector General, Counter Intelligence, Gursewak Singh Brar, revealed that a secret operation based on reliable inputs led to Gurpreet's arrest in the Ferozepur area. The drugs were allegedly meant for a local smuggler following instructions from a Pakistan-based counterpart. The investigation aims to map out the entire network, with a case filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
