A tragic boat accident occurred in the Kaudiyala river near Bharathapur village, resulting in the death of a 60-year-old woman and leaving eight individuals, including five children, missing, according to officials.
The incident unfolded around 6 pm when the boat, carrying 22 people from Khairatiya village, capsized due to strong river currents, sources reported. Officials have successfully rescued 13 passengers.
Efforts to locate the missing are underway, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath dispatching NDRF and SDRF teams to assist in the rescue. The region's poor road connectivity and wildlife, including elephants, pose challenges to the operations.
