In a call for improved international relations, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun on Friday urged stronger communication between the defense departments of China and the United States. The minister emphasized the importance of policy-level dialogues and increased interactions among military officers.

Minister Dong delivered these remarks during a meeting with U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in Malaysia. He underscored a consistent stance by urging the U.S. to 'oppose Taiwan independence.'

The Chinese defense ministry released a statement highlighting Dong's assurance that China is fully capable of addressing any infringements or provocations with calm and resolve.
