In a significant breakthrough against the Maoist insurgency, top Naxalite commander Madvi Hidma was killed in an encounter in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. This marks a pivotal victory for Chhattisgarh Police, who described the incident as the 'last nail in the coffin' of the rebellion.
The operation, which unfolded in the Maredumilli forest of Alluri Sitaramaraju district, saw Hidma, his wife Raje, and four other insurgents gunned down by security forces. Hidma, native to Sukma district, had been a central figure in orchestrating deadly attacks, including the 2010 Tadmetla attack.
His demise follows extensive anti-Naxal operations that intensified over the past two years, significantly weakening his security. Hidma's death, along with other key Maoist leaders, signals a strategic win in the continued fight against insurgency in regions spanning Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and beyond.
