In a dramatic turn of events, one of 25 schoolgirls abducted by gunmen in northwestern Nigeria's Kebbi state has made a daring escape and returned home safely, according to the school's principal speaking to The Associated Press.
The mass kidnapping occurred early Monday morning when armed men stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, capturing 25 pupils and tragically killing a staff member during their raid.
Remarkably, the escaped student managed to navigate through densely forested terrain, reaching home late Monday, just hours after their harrowing ordeal began. Additionally, another student narrowly avoided becoming a victim by fleeing amidst the chaos of the attack.
