Mob's Misguided Fury: Social Media Sparks Chaos in Haldwani

A mob attacked a Haldwani eatery after a calf's head was found outside. Social media fueled the incident, leading to stone-pelting by a Hindu group. CCTV showed a dog brought the head from forest. Authorities called for increased security, urged calm, and initiated legal action.

A mob descended upon an eatery in Haldwani after the discovery of a calf's head near its premises, police sources revealed on Tuesday.

The incident erupted Sunday night on Bareilly Road, near Banbhulpura, after news spread virally on social media, prompting a Hindu group to gather and attack the establishment.

Investigations via CCTV footage showed no criminal intent as a dog sourced the head from a nearby forest. Authorities, meanwhile, heightened security, monitored social media, and advised the public to ignore rumors and maintain peace.
