In a groundbreaking initiative, Maharashtra's Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has announced the free regularization of small land parcels purchased in violation of the Fragmentation Act. The move, expected to bring relief to almost 60 lakh property holders, has set the stage for legalizing long-pending transactions across the state.
The newly introduced eight-point procedure enables the removal of entries against the Maharashtra Prevention of Fragmentation and Consolidation of Holdings Act from the 7/12 land title document. As per Bawankule, this procedure will ensure full legal validity for thousands of small-plot transactions.
The decision covers various regions including residential, commercial, and cantonment zones. It allows landowners to have their names legally recorded, removing barriers previously present. The move, once fully implemented, offers substantial relief to middle-class landowners, granting them the ability to transfer property without future restrictions.
