The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) has apprehended three suspects alleged to be involved in the illicit trafficking of individuals to Myanmar. The operation is part of a broader investigation targeting agents who reportedly transported Indian youths to engage in cybercrimes across the border.
The arrests come following evidence gathered during the interrogation of nine victims from Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Udham Singh Nagar districts. These individuals were recently returned to India after their illegal stay in Myanmar was uncovered.
Authorities revealed that these youths had been deceived by Indian agents, who extracted substantial sums of money from them before sending them through Thailand. Once in Myawaddy, a town in Myanmar, they were forced into cybercrime operations. This scheme was reportedly facilitated via personal contact and mobile apps like Telegram and WhatsApp.
