The Bombay High Court took a decisive stance on Friday against the rising pollution levels in Mumbai caused by construction activities. A judicial bench, led by Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, mandated the implementation of mitigating guidelines to curb pollution.
An independent committee, comprising representatives from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), and the state's public health department, has been formed to oversee inspections at construction sites, ensuring compliance with the established guidelines.
The court emphasized the urgency of the situation, directing officials to submit an action report by December 15 on measures taken last year. In a bid to safeguard public health, the court encouraged enhanced monitoring practices and the installation of pollution control mechanisms.
