Two alleged members of the notorious 'Thak-Thak' gang have been apprehended in Delhi, according to police sources. The arrests follow a series of thefts where drivers were distracted, allowing the culprits to steal valuables from their vehicles.
The suspects, Sanju alias Sanju Madrasi and Gaurav alias Rinku, both 26, and residents of Madangir, were taken into custody after a woman's laptop bag was stolen from her car on Ring Road on November 21. Both have extensive criminal records, having been involved in at least 15 previous cases related to various crimes including theft and robbery.
The gang's modus operandi involved alerting drivers of fictitious vehicle issues, leading motorists to step out, during which time the thieves would make off with the valuables. Police investigations led to the recovery of the stolen items and the scooter used in the crimes. The suspects reportedly turned to crime in 2018 due to bad influences and addictions.
