The DMK plans to raise several issues during the winter session of Parliament, particularly focusing on setting a timeline for state Governors to provide assent for legislative bills. Additionally, the ruling party will emphasize the need for immediate Presidential approval for the Kalaignar University Bill, pending since May 2025.
At a meeting led by CM M K Stalin, the DMK passed a resolution to remain vigilant in its legal efforts to ensure the Governor's prompt assent to state-passed bills. CM Stalin criticized the BJP central government for neglecting the voices of Tamil Nadu's citizens, questioning the integrity of such actions in the world's largest democracy.
The DMK has also voiced concerns over the Centre's handling of regional issues, including unmet financial aid for educational programs and insufficient responses to the state's infrastructural and labor needs. The party urges immediate action on various fronts, from railway projects to fishermen's rights, advocating for fair treatment and respect for state rights.
